NYC Wine Tour Sprinter | Hudson Valley & North Fork Sprinter Tours

Mercedes Sprinter NYC runs full-day sprinter wine tours from Manhattan to Hudson Valley and North Fork (Long Island) vineyards every weekend, April through December. Typical day: 9 AM Manhattan pickup, 4 wineries, pre-arranged lunch stop, 7-8 PM return. $1,400 flat for an 8-hour day; longer custom itineraries quoted hourly.

Hudson Valley vs. North Fork — which region?

The Hudson Valley (Dutchess County and north) is roughly 2-2.5 hours from Manhattan via the Taconic or I-87. It's known for cold-climate varietals — Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling — at producers like Millbrook, Clinton Vineyards, and Brotherhood. The North Fork of Long Island (Cutchogue, Southold, Jamesport) is 2-2.5 hours via the LIE and carries a maritime climate, producing Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and sparkling wine at producers like Wölffer Estate, Macari, and Bedell Cellars. Most groups pick one region per trip; the Hudson Valley is usually quieter on summer weekends.

A typical sprinter wine tour day

Most tours pick up in Manhattan between 9-10 AM. The chauffeur drives 2-2.5 hours to the first vineyard, waiting in the tasting room lot during the 45-60 minute reservation. Between vineyards is 15-30 minutes of driving. A pre-booked lunch stop — usually a winery with its own restaurant or a nearby independent — breaks the day in the middle. After 3-4 vineyards, the chauffeur drives 2-2.5 hours back, returning to Manhattan between 7-8 PM. Eight hours end-to-end is the standard; 10-hour tours hitting 5 vineyards are common in the long summer days.

We coordinate the reservations

Most top Hudson Valley and North Fork wineries require advance tasting reservations, especially for groups of 6+ on weekends. Our dispatch team works through your preferred winery list, confirms time slots that fit the driving legs, and shares the final itinerary with the chauffeur the day before. If a vineyard is fully booked, we suggest specific alternatives that are currently accepting group reservations. This coordination is included in the tour rate — we don't upcharge for itinerary planning.

Group size and luggage

The standard Mercedes Sprinter handles 10-14 passengers with room in the rear cargo area for coolers and wine cases purchased on the tour. Most wineries allow tastings for groups up to 12-14; groups over 14 often need to split between two time slots or two wineries. We can run two Sprinters on a single contract for 20-person weekend groups — a common Bachelor/Bachelorette pattern.

When to book

Peak season is May through October, with August and September the highest-demand months. For Saturday summer tours, book 2-4 weeks ahead — we often sell out our weekend sprinter availability. Spring weekends (April, early May) and fall shoulder season (late October, November) have much more flexibility. Winter Hudson Valley tours are possible but most North Fork wineries close tasting rooms December-February.

Wine Tours FAQ

How much is a Manhattan to Hudson Valley wine tour sprinter?

+

A full-day sprinter wine tour from Manhattan to Hudson Valley (3-4 wineries, 8 hours, includes driver and all driving between vineyards) is $1,400 flat for up to 14 passengers. That works out to $100 per person at capacity — typically cheaper than a limo or party bus for the same itinerary.

Can we choose which wineries to visit?

+

Yes. You pick 3-4 wineries from your preferred list (Hudson Valley or North Fork), and our dispatch confirms the tasting reservations in a sequence that minimizes driving time. If you don't have specific preferences, we suggest a default itinerary based on your group's wine style preferences.

Is lunch included in the wine tour price?

+

No — lunch is separate, charged directly by the restaurant or winery. We coordinate the lunch reservation with the rest of the itinerary, so it fits between vineyards, but the bill is handled on-site by the group.

Can we bring wine we purchase back to the Sprinter?

+

Yes — the Mercedes Sprinter has 45+ cubic feet of cargo space, more than enough for coolers, cases, and open shipping boxes purchased at the vineyards. Our chauffeurs help load and unload wine at each stop.
